Library

The lending service is available not only to students, teaching staff and staff at La Source, but also to anyone else who is interested. External users may borrow materials on presentation of their Renouvaud/Bibliopass card or can register free of charge with CEDOC via the pre-registration form. You must present a valid form of ID to confirm your registration.

Each reader may borrow a maximum of 30 items from the Renouvaud network.

The loan period is set at 28 days (7 days for items in the short-term loan scheme).

Journals may only be consulted on-site. However, it is possible to make photocopies of the desired articles or to download the full text of the electronic version, if available.

Please do take the time to read the these rules before borrowing any items.

Items can be renewed provided they have not been reserved by another user. The maximum loan period is four times the initial loan period, i.e. 112 days.

An item already on loan to another user can be reserved either via the catalogue Renouvaud by logging into your reader account, or by making a request at the CEDOC reception desk. If an item is available on the shelves, please go directly to the library to borrow it.

Where possible, items should be returned in person during opening hours. A return box is provided outside the CEDOC when the service is closed. Books borrowed from other libraries cannot be returned to CEDOC, nor can items borrowed from CEDOC be returned to other libraries.

Once the loan due date has passed, a fine of 20 centimes per day per item is charged. Once fines totalling CHF 20 have been incurred, the reader’s account is blocked (no further borrowing is possible from any library in the network).

Upon the 4^th reminder, a formal notice is sent, giving a final deadline of 7 days to return the items.

The actual cost of the documents to be replaced, plus an administrative fee of CHF 20, will be charged. Please complete a loss report form or a document damage report.

If a document available in a Swiss library is not held by CEDOC, students and staff at La Source may submit an inter-library loan request.

We recommend that users from outside the School contact their local cantonal library.

We ask libraries that are not part of the Renouvaud network to provide one IFLA voucher per item sent (an IFLA voucher is a voucher used in the international system for interlibrary loans and document delivery).

Is there a book you consider essential that is not available at CEDOC? Please feel free to submit an acquisition proposal by sending us the form with the document’s full details.

This may be a suggestion for a new title, a new edition of a document already held by CEDOC, or a request to purchase an additional copy.
